Gastric sleeve surgery is one of the best and most popular weight loss surgery procedures which works by resecting a major portion of the stomach by creating a "sleeve" or banana-shaped pouch without disrupting normal connections with the esophagus and small intestine. You are a good candidate for gastric sleeve surgery if you are more than 100 pounds above your ideal body weight and/ or have a BMI of 40 or above or are 80 pounds overweight and have obesity-related problems such as diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea, etc.
