Dr. Abhay Agrawal did Masters in Surgery and commenced his
career as a Surgeon in Mumbai. With a view to usher professional
excellence in India in the areas of laparoscopic and bariatric
surgery, he skilled himself through fellowship and training
at some of the global benchmark institutions in the aforesaid
areas.
Dr. Abhay Agrawal received specialised training in advanced
laparoscopic Bariatric surgery from experts in France, Austria
and USA. Later he completed his Fellowship in Bariatric from
Clinique de Savegarde, Lyon, France, a leading hospital with
the highest number of Bariatric cases in the world. He has
been trained in India and abroad, under globally renowned
doctors like Prof. A. Cuschieri (U.K.), Prof. Jacques Perissat,
Dr. Jean - Louis Dulucq (both France) Dr Michel Gagner (USA)
and of course, Dr. J.B. Agrawal.
Dr. Abhay Agrawal also holds a Diploma in Hospital Administration
from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He then
joined the Asian Heart Institute as a Consultant Laparoscopic
and Bariatric Surgeon. Having started laparoscopy surgery
in 1995 he has performed thousands of basic & advanced
laparoscopic procedures.
Dr. Abhay Agrawal has performed numerous bariatric procedures
like Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, Lap Sleeve Gastrectomy,
Lap Gastric Bypass and Intragastric Balloon at various prestigious
medical centers in India.
The Society of Asia Pacific Obesity Surgeons, recognized
Dr. Agrawal's expertise proficiency in bariatric surgery and
he is amongst the four Indian surgeons to present a paper
on his experiences in this area at the Asia Pacific Obesity
Conclave in March 2008 at Shanghai China. He is now super
specializing in Bariatric Surgery (Weight loss Surgery) and
has done pioneering work in the field of Bariatrics in India.
He also imparts surgical skills to young budding surgeons
across the country through training sessions at the Ethicon
Institute of EndoSurgery (EIES) Mahim.
He has published papers in several national and international
publications and has participated as speaker/Panelist/Delegate
at a large number of seminars, workshops and conferences
